Not many people are aware of the need of proper recycling of the Compact Flourescent Lights, instead of going in the regular garbage they must be taken to a recycling facility. We have a large box just for non working CFL’s. We have offered all our employees free CFL disposal, they can bring it to us and we will fill the container and ship it to Waste Management.

Received our Kill A Watt from the Alternative Energy Store www.altenergystore.com to figure out electrical consumption of our rechargeable votive candles to determine solar panel size. We want to re-charge our table votive candles with solar renewable energy. To use the device you just have to plug an appliance and it will assess how efficient they really are. You can figure out your electrical expense by appliance by the day, week or month. Also you can evaluate the quality of the electrical power provided from your utility company. We will do a chart with all our electric appliances and consumption to determine energy usage. Some refrigerators are 16 years old, it might be better to dispose and lease a new energy efficient one.

We are installing energy efficient light bulbs, 85% of all the lighting at Taranta will be energy efficient, we installed the Maxlite Spiral Medium E26, and 5 Watt – Warm White – Frost – A19 – Dimmable – Micro-Brite Cold Cathode Fluorescent – Litetronics MB-501D. The restaurant industry is the # 1 consumer of electricity in the US retail sector, and over 70% of this electricity comes from fossil fuels: coal, gas, and petroleum, which contribute to global warming and endanger human health. Using energy efficient lights at Taranta can siginifically decrease our restaurant’s energy consumption.
